Plumbing Repair

When water is going somewhere it shouldn’t, every minute adds to the damage. Call and a real dispatcher answers, gets the closest plumber rolling, and tells you exactly what to do until we’re at the door.

At your location in 60 minutes or you save $60.

The short answer

Close the nearest shut-off — the valve under the sink or behind the toilet, or the main where the water line enters the building — then call us. A real dispatcher answers 24/7, talks you through limiting the damage and sends the closest plumber: at your location in 60 minutes or you save $60. You get the price before any work starts.

Is this an emergency?

Call now if…

  • Water is actively spreading or dripping through a ceiling
  • Sewage is backing up anywhere in the building
  • You can’t stop the water with the fixture or main shut-off
  • There’s no heat or hot water and it’s below freezing
  • You smell gas — leave first, then call the gas utility and us

Can usually wait for a scheduled visit

  • A slow drip from a faucet you can turn off
  • A running toilet with the supply valve closed
  • Low water pressure at a single fixture

Not sure? Call anyway — we’ll tell you honestly.

Do this right now

  1. Shut the fixture valve, or the main shut-off where the water line enters the building.
  2. If water is near outlets or fixtures, turn off that circuit at the breaker.
  3. Move valuables, rugs and electronics out of the water’s path.
  4. Take a few photos for insurance — then call us.

Signs you need us

  • Water coming through a ceiling, wall or light fixture
  • Sewage or grey water coming up from a floor drain or tub
  • No water at all — or water you can’t shut off
  • The sound of running water when every tap is off
  • Stains, bubbling paint or sagging drywall that keep spreading
  • A musty smell or mold in a sink cabinet or along a wall
  • A water bill that jumps for no reason
  • Smell of gas near a water heater or boiler

How we handle the call

  1. 01

    Help on the phone

The dispatcher talks you through shutting the water off and protecting your things while the closest plumber heads your way.

  2. 02

    Stop the water

First priority on arrival: isolate the leak and make the space safe, including the power to any wet area.

  3. 03

    Find the real cause

A failed fitting, a cracked stack, a leak from the apartment upstairs — we trace it to the source instead of patching the symptom.

  4. 04

    Price before work

You get the price for the repair before it starts. No surprises on the invoice.

  5. 05

    Fix it and clean up

A permanent repair where possible, a safe temporary one if a part has to be ordered — plus photos and notes for your landlord, board or insurer.

Know your building

Plumbing repairs in apartments, houses and shops

In an apartment building, a leak is rarely one apartment’s problem. Water follows pipes and floor joists down through the building, so the stain on your ceiling can start two floors up — and the drip in your kitchen can be your neighbor’s dishwasher. Many apartments have no main shut-off of their own: there are valves under the sinks and behind the toilet, and the risers that feed a whole stack of apartments are shut off by the super or other building staff. If a fixture valve won’t stop it, call the super as well as us — we work with them when we arrive. In a co-op or condo, a leak between apartments also raises the question of whose pipe failed — the building’s riser or the line inside your unit — and our photos and notes show the board where it started.

In a house or older rowhouse, the main shut-off is usually near the meter where the water line comes in — often in the basement, a crawlspace or a utility room. In tall buildings, booster pumps or a rooftop tank feed the upper floors, so a pressure problem on your floor may be the building’s pumps or tank rather than anything in your apartment. Restaurants, shops and offices tend to spring leaks at their hardest-working fixtures — dish sinks, ice machines, restrooms — and we plan the repair around opening hours where we can. Wherever it happens, finding the source, not just the wet spot, is most of the job.

Upfront price, every time

What a plumbing repair costs

The price depends on what failed and how hard it is to reach. A leaking supply line under a sink is a short, simple repair. A leak inside a finished wall, a cracked cast-iron stack or a valve on a building riser takes more time and parts — and in co-ops and condos, building rules can decide when the water can be shut off.

Whatever the hour, you get the price for the repair before any work begins. A hidden leak can’t be priced honestly over the phone — we’ll tell you what we can on the call and give you the full price once we’ve found the source.

Honest advice

Fix it now, or fix it for good?

Most leaks are one failed part — a fitting, a valve, a supply line — and replacing that part is the whole job.

When the same run of pipe keeps springing leaks, the pipe itself is worn out, and patching it again just moves the next leak a few feet down the line. We’ll show you what we found, tell you honestly whether a repair will hold, and price both options so you can choose.

Mistakes that make it worse

  • Mopping while the water is still on — shut it off first, always
  • Leaving water near outlets, power strips or appliances without turning off that circuit
  • Waiting for a ceiling stain to “dry out” — by the time it sags, the damage is far worse
  • Throwing out the failed part and skipping the photos — your insurer will want both

Keep it from happening again

  • Find your shut-off valves now and make sure they turn — seized valves are common in older buildings
  • Swap rubber washing-machine and dishwasher hoses for braided stainless ones every few years
  • Look under sinks and around the water heater once a month for drips, stains or rust
  • Fix small drips early — a slow leak inside a cabinet turns into rot and mold

FAQ

Plumbing Repair questions

Do you really answer at 3 a.m.?

Yes. Real people answer the phone 24/7/365, including weekends and holidays. No voicemail tree.

Water is coming through my ceiling from upstairs. What do I do?

Tell your neighbor and your super right away so the water can be shut off at the source, keep clear of wet light fixtures, and move your things out of the way. Then call us: we find where it’s coming from, stop it, and give you photos and notes for the landlord or insurer.

Can you find a leak without tearing open the walls?

Usually we can narrow it down first — checking the meter, isolating lines and following the path the water takes — so any opening we make is small and in the right place.

Do you charge more at night or on holidays?

You’ll hear the price on the phone or at the door before any work begins, whatever time it is.

Do you work with landlords, supers and managing agents?

Yes. In apartment buildings we coordinate with the super or building staff for access and riser shut-offs, and give them a written description of the work.

Do you handle commercial buildings?

Yes — restaurants, retail, offices and multifamily buildings, as well as homes.
